Claremont Basin Gets a Duromar Seal
About The Project:
Start Date: Q2 2025
Location: Claremont, KY
Inspector/Partner: Internal Site Engineering
Coating Distributor: HPP Industrial
Project Details:
At HPP Industrial, we’re proud to contribute to projects that help safeguard not only infrastructure—but also the environments and industries they support.

One of our recent projects brought us to Claremont, Kentucky, where a long-serving alcohol secondary containment basin at a distillery facility showed signs of wear and degradation.
Years of exposure to alcohol and hydrocarbons had taken a toll on the basin’s aged coating system. The goal: restore integrity to the structure and apply a new coating solution designed to withstand chemical exposure, flex, and impact—while maintaining safe operation through a broad temperature range.
To begin, the surface was prepped to SSPC-SP13/ICRI CSP 3–7 standards, ensuring the concrete was clean, dry, and ready to accept a new lining system. We then recommended a robust two-part coating system from Duromar for long-term chemical resistance. We started with DF-1303, a 100% solids, zero-VOC concrete sealer formulated to penetrate and seal porous concrete while preventing outgassing.
Its excellent adhesion and tolerance for surface impurities like oil and grease made it a perfect primer for this industrial-grade application. Next came two alternating coats of HPL-3721, a polysulfide-modified epoxy engineered for extreme service.
This high-performance lining offers outstanding resistance to chemicals, alcohols, and hydrocarbons, along with excellent impact durability and flexibility. Notably, it cures at temperatures as low as 35ºF—making it ideal for the facility’s operating conditions.
Together, this system delivered a fully restored, high-integrity containment area designed to meet both current needs and future demands.
At HPP, we believe that no matter the scale or location, every project is an opportunity to deliver peace of mind—and protective solutions that last. We’re proud to support the distillery team in Claremont and look forward to many more projects where performance meets purpose.
